A Strong Arm

Rev. Kristie Selvidge   -

Isaiah 33:2 says, “But Lord, be merciful to us, for we have waited for you. Be our strong arm each day and our salvation in times of trouble.”

A couple of weeks ago, Pastor Jeremy preached on our need to KNOW Jesus. In order to know Him, we have to surround ourselves with the things of Christ. The Bible, podcasts, worship music, godly friends, and our church body…are all great avenues of ways to KNOW Jesus more.

This passage in Isaiah says we’ve waited for you. Waiting is hard. Waiting takes a long time sometimes. When we KNOW Jesus, and when we spend time with others who KNOW Jesus, we are encouraged in our waiting. Sometimes it is wise words from a trusted friend, other times it is just knowing that someone else is waiting too and we can wait together.

We need the Lord to be a strong arm in the midst of our troubles. A strong arm supports us when we are utterly weak and falling down. A strong arm guides us when our tears and frustrations make the path ahead blurry. A strong arm pushes us when we need it to take the next step ahead of us. A strong arm sometimes leads us to others who can support us along the way. This strong arm of the Lord is available to every single one of us. It is not forced upon us, but waiting to be invited to guide us.
