Easter 2017 – Cross & Resurrection
We are entering a season where we come to the heart and soul of the Christian faith.
The climax of salvation history happens in the events that take place during Holy Week, beginning on Palm Sunday (April 9th). We’ll start there by celebrating the entrance of the King to Jerusalem. But the story takes a quick turn towards the Passion of Jesus, his suffering and death on a cross.
And somehow, in the midst of the horrors of those events, we begin to learn that, at the cross, the whole world is somehow also being redeemed. Somehow, in that most horrible of events, the love of God was also on display for all the world to see. “By his wounds we are healed.”
Of course, that’s not the end of the story.
On the morning of the third day we also learn that everything has changed again…before we could even get used to the idea that he was gone, he’s back. Only this time he comes with a LIFE that is more fully alive than anything we had a category for to that point. Jesus is alive with a kind of life that has unclasped the grasp of death.
This new life, that comes through the way of the cross, is available to you and me in the crucified and resurrected Jesus.
We hope you’ll join us in April as we peer into the profound mystery of the central truth of the Christian faith – the Cross and Resurrection.
