A Season for Mourning
Nobody likes pain and suffering. We’d rather avoid them if we could. Probably most of the decisions we make in life involve some kind of “pain-avoidance” factor.
But the reality is that all of us will have to face a few storms in life.
So how do we navigate them?
Or better yet, how do we survive them?
The people of God in the Bible are no strangers to suffering. They weep, mourn & cry out to God with the best of us from within the same kinds of storms. And while there are often no easy answers in these seasons, the scriptures do reveal some profound truths that offer some help to us when we suffer.
The Psalmist, for example, says even when we’ve made our bed in the depths (or some circumstance of life has thrown us there), God is there with us (see Psalm 139).
The presence of a God who meets us in our suffering is no small thing…
…partly because our Creator knows our pain…
…but also because God has made a way through it (not around, over or under) to resurrection and new life. God has already made a way through the darkest of valleys into an eternity full of light.
